We are excited to announce that we have managed to secure 4 School Direct, Teacher Training places for the Aspire Partnership for next year, 2017-2018, three of which are now filled.  We have gained these places alongside the Yorkshire Rose Teaching School Alliance through Leeds Beckett University.

Overview of School Direct

School Direct is a new route into teaching for high quality graduates. It gives participants the opportunity to work more closely with schools in partnership with local Initial Teacher Training providers.

School Direct takes two forms: salaried and unsalaried. The Aspire Partnership is offering unsalaried places for 2017-18 in the 5-11 age range.

The Aspire School Direct programme is full time over the academic year. This programme enables trainees to gain a Postgraduate Certificate in Education, which can be used as 60 credits towards a Masters award in the future.

Participants will have mentor support and a comprehensive professional development programme (both school and university based).

Trainees will complete two placements at different partnership schools.

Trainees will also access a diverse range of training opportunities through School Experience days in all four Aspire schools. These will provide trainees with an understanding and experience of a range of educational contexts such as Behaviour Management, working with EAL children, use of Interactive Whiteboards, SEN and Inclusion, Planning and The Wow factor!

The tuition fee for the Aspire School Direct course is around £9000 but participants will be able to access student loans, and depending on grade of degree, may be eligible for a bursary.

The Aspire Partnership

The Aspire Partnership is a well-established group of schools who have worked together over a long period of time. We have a shared vision, ethos and attitude towards primary education where we our common goal is to give the children in Morley the best opportunities and experiences that school life can offer. We work collaboratively on a range of different projects throughout the school year and School Direct is just one aspect of our work.

The School Direct programme is delivered by experienced and highly qualified staff from four 3-11 Primary schools. The partnership is currently working with Leeds University but will work with Leeds Beckett University from September 2017. The four partnership schools are:

·         Churwell Primary School

·         Asquith Primary School

·         Fountain Primary School

·         Morley Victoria Primary School

Blackgates Primary School are a recent and welcome addition to the Aspire Partnership but they are using a different teacher training provider for the 2017/18 academic year.
