Below are links to the Leeds Admissions Policy for entry into Reception; and to our Nursery Admissions Policy. You can also find advice about applying for Secondary School places.
We have also included some good advice about how to access a place for children in Years 1 to 6. Please read the policies and procedures very carefully. If you would like any help or advice or to look around our school, please contact us to arrange an appointment - our number is 0113 2535253.
Here at Morley Victoria we have designed our own Nursery Admissions Policy which is in-line with that of Leeds City Council school admissions procedures. We will allocate places to families based on this policy. Please contact the school office if you would like to put your name down on our waiting list. We offer both 15 and 30 hour places. In order to claim 30 hours of free child care, we will require a 30 hour code. For more information please go to: https://www.gov.uk/apply-30-hours-free-childcare or the HMRC website to check eligibility or ask to speak to our school Business Manager who will be able to offer advice. We will offer places as early as possible, usually around February/March time to secure places. If your name is on the waiting list, someone will be in touch.
We will arrange for staff to come out to do a home visit so we can get to know you a little better and you will be invited to come for a short 'stay and play' session where you can learn more about what happens in Nursery and the children can have a wonderful time. The more information we have about the children in our care, the better, so please do talk to staff if you have any concerns about your child's development. This will help us to know how we can best cater for their needs.
If your child is classed as having Special Educational Needs, is Looked After or Post-Looked After, please do let us know - we would like to offer the best possible care and support to your child and your family.
We are part of Owlcotes Multi-Academy Trust and the Trust Board is the Admissions Authority for Morley Victoria Primary School. Our admissions policy mirrors the Leeds City Council admissions policy.

If you are applying for a reception place for September 2026, all applications are made in advance. The national closing date is 15 January 2026. Offers are made by the Local Authority on national offer day (16 April 2026).
PLEASE DIRECT ANY ENQUIRIES ABOUT ONGOING APPLICATIONS TO LEEDS CITY COUNCIL. Please click the link below to see responses to Frequently Asked Question.
You must apply to the local authority who empties your bins. If this is Leeds, go to www.leeds.gov.uk/apply. The website is a composite prospectus for all Leeds schools and this includes:
You can also watch the Leeds City Council school admissions video for more information. Click on the blue words to follow the link.
The council's social media pages will also tell you about any Q&A sessions where you can ask questions.
You can also see information about our school, including previous admission data, on our school page on the Leeds City Council's website https://www.leeds.gov.uk/schools-and-education/school-admissions/check-school-details/display-details?schoolid=111
The timetable below applies to applications made to Leeds City Council. If you apply to another local authority, they may have different dates:
You can apply for a primary school place (for September 2026 intake) from 1st November 2025 for children born between 1st September 2021 and 31st August 2022.
If you're moving into Leeds or want to change schools in Leeds, you need to make a school transfer - often called an in-year application. This includes:
Moving schools can be a difficult experience for a child. You should always speak to your child's current school before trying to move to see what support they can offer you.
We have the responsibility for considering requests to join our school in-year, or for Reception after the start of the school year (1st September). To apply for a place, go to the Leeds application portal at www.leeds.gov.uk/moveschools to submit an online in-year application to Leeds City Council.
The Council will send the application on to all the school(s) you have applied for at the same time. Our school will decide whether we can offer a place and contact you with a decision. If we refuse to offer a place, we will confirm this in writing to you, explaining our reasons, and that you have the right of appeal. We must give you a written decision within 15 school days.
If your child is classed as having Special Educational Needs, is Looked After or Post-Looked After, please do let us know - we would like to offer the best possible care and support to your child and your family.
Our waiting lists are kept until end of each school year. You will need to make a new application if you want to be on the waiting list for the following school year.
If we cannot offer you a place, you will have the right of appeal. The appeal panel is independent of the school and council and their decision is legally binding.
Before you appear you:
Leeds City Council arranges our appeals and you can find the appeal form at School appeals (leeds.gov.uk).
If you are applying for a reception place for September 2026, you need to submit your appeal by the deadline to ensure the appeal will be heard before the summer holidays.
Appeals for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 - these classes are limited to 30 pupils per teacher by law. This means that appeals for these places are less likely to be successful.
If our school refuses your child a place because of this limit and you want to appeal, you will need to make an infant class size appeal. You can see if your reasons are likely to be successful by reading the Department for Education's information about infant class size appeals.
Other appeals - You can appeal because you want your child to attend a particular school. These are successful if the panel agree that the reasons for your appeal outweigh the school's decision not to admit any more children.
Wanting your child to go to a school because you think it is the best one in the area is not likely to convince the panel that your child should get a place there.
If you believe your child is eligible for Fair Access, please let us know. The more detail you put down on the ICPF, the better. There is a separate form to complete if your child meets any of the criteria. The Fair Access Criteria is set out below:
As the school we were highly oversubscribed on offer day last year. As a school we have an admission limit of 30 children per class and 78 part time places in the Nursery - this is due to the size of the classrooms, Safeguarding and Health and Safety measures that are in place and to ensure that we do not prejudice the education of our children by having class sizes that are unmanageable. We will admit children over this number at the request of the Local Authority.
